Welcome back to Bench Notes! 

As the team here is coming back from a long weekend full of friends and family, we’ve been reflecting on the great community we support and that supports us. So we’d like to take this moment to say thank you to a few special people.

We want to take a minute to thank all of you for the huge response to our job posting last month! Thanks to all your help, we’ve had the privilege of meeting so many passionate and bright tech-oriented folks in our community. 

Additionally, our shelves are about as full as they could possibly be, so thank you all for trusting us with your gear! And thank you as well for your patience while we catch up on things and get the new tech(s) up to speed.

It’s worth noting that the person in charge of all of this input and output of synths, samplers, and electric pianos has been absolutely crushing it this month, so we wanted to embarrass him a little in the form of a public thank you.

Jeremy, you are the heart that keeps this shop pumping. The sheer volume of calls, emails, pickups, drop-offs, parts orders, prioritizing, and team meetings that you take care of every week is astonishing, and the gentle kindness and warmth you bring to every one of those interactions takes the cake. We really could not do this every day without you, so thank you endlessly for taking care of us!

Monday, November 11th | Toronto Electronic Music Open Mic

On the second Monday of each month, our friends at TEMOM hold an electronic music open mic night at Handlebar. 15 minute sets. All live. All musical styles. Drop by at 8pm and enjoy!

Every Wednesday | Render File

You can often catch our talented tech Sam making noise at Render File on Wednesdays. This casual event stars a different video game playthrough each week with an improvised score by a live band. Check it out at Wenona Craft Beer Lodge every Wednesday at 8pm.

Saturday, October 19th | Frequency Freaks

Frequency Freaks Synthesizer Workshops are free educational synth events that encourage sharing gear info and sound-design techniques in the Toronto synth community. They’re held in association with Arraymusic at 155 Walnut Avenue.
